I will do (make) a quick presentation about (of?) the Ghana
Ghana is located on the Gulf of Guinea in western Africa just above the equator, Ghana is surrounded by Burkina Faso, Togo, and Ivory Coast.
The total area of Ghana is 238,537 square kilometers. The capital city is Accra.
This country is an ancient British colony and was the first of black Africa to achieve independence in 1957.
The currency is Ghanaian Cedi ; 1 Euro = 10,769.6 Ghanaian Cedi
(make sure you know the numbers by heart)
About the climate
The climate of Ghana is a tropical one.
Except in (Apart from) the north, two rainy seasons occur, from April to July and from September to November. In the north the rainy season begins in April and lasts until (in) September.
The harmattan, a dry desert wind, blows from the northeast from December to March, lowering (lowers) the humidity and creating (?)(makes days hot and nights cold in the north of the country) hot days and cool nights in the north.
In most areas the highest temperatures occur in March, the lowest in August.
The average temperature is about 26°
The demography
The population of Ghana is estimated at (around) 19 million inhabitants. 70% of the Ghanaians lives (live) in the southern half (south part) of the country. The rural population represents approximately two thirds of the population. The infantil (infantile) mortality rate (81%) is a little less low than in the majority of the countries of Black Africa and the life expectancy to the birth (?) (56 years) a little longer.
Ghana has a great human diversity: the population consists of several ethnis (ethnic) groups of which Akans representing (represent)50% and Mossis approximately 15%.
Administrative Division
Ghana is divided into 10 administrative areas and each of them has a capital city. The population is (at 35% urban)urban to 35%. Accra is (the) largest city and an important commercial, manufacturing, and communications center. It is the site of (There is also) an international airport. There are (is) more than one million inhabitants.
Language
English is the official language of Ghana. It is spoken at schoolspoken in the schools. However, nine Ghanaian languages are taught in the same time to (besides / in addition to) English and French. Like (As) the majority of the African States, this country is characterized by (some) linguistic pluralism. Indeed, in Ghana there are approximately 100 languages.
Education
Teaching is free and obligatory during the six years of primary education and the three years of secondary education. Fifty-three percent of the population (in the cities) can read and write; however, the percentage in the rural areas is quite low. There are five universities plus a large number of teacher (?) colleges and technical institutes.
Economy
Ghana is a very poor country. The three quarters (Three quarters) of the population live with less 2$ by day. 60% of the population depend(s) on food agriculture (?). But harvests remain insufficient and Ghana is contrained (then obliged) to import important quantities of food and cattle. The production of cocoa is especially intended (Cocoa is cultivated especially) for export what (and) constitutes one of the principal sources of income of (resources for) Ghana. The coffee, the bananas, the citrus fruits, rubber, cotton are also cultures intended for export. (Coffee, bananas, citrus fruits, rubber and cotton are also exported)
The industry of Ghana is little (hardly) developed. The factories are specialized in the manufacture of foodstuffs, textiles, vehicles, paper and chemicals. |
I made a few corrections as promised.
I do not think this is perfect but it should help you. In some cases, I put a question mark as I did not understand what you meant.
Please make sure you know how to say 238,537 and 10,769.6 before you start the presentation.
Same comment as last time. Forget about the french if you want to write in english.
And good luck _________________ (\__/) (\__/) (\__/)

Could I have assistance, please ?
Should I say ... ?
- to work at doing something ?
- to work for doing something ?
- to work on doing something ?
... (sure I could find many others wrong proposals but it will be enough at this time )
(<= we need some English smileys on this forum ) _________________

You work on something. (ex : I work on my report).
You work for your boss.
You work at home.
I would not say I work on doing something. But the construction is correct in some cases.
I work on reaching a conclusion : je fais tout pour / je m'efforce à arriver à une conclusion.
I work on the conclusion of my report : je travaille sur la conclusion de mon rapport
If I am not mistaken, the meaning is not exactly the same.
Anyone can confirm? _________________ (\__/) (\__/) (\__/)

In the case which is interesting me, several people work and I wish to make a repartion of the tasks.
For example, A and B have to work ... tapestry sticking, while C and D have to work ... walls painting.
What kind of correct English formulation should I have to use? "work on ... "? Or there is no right expression using the word "work"? _________________

Well ... A and B work on the painting of the walls, C and D work on etc etc ...
This sounds better than work on painting the walls .... (according to me ) _________________ (\__/) (\__/) (\__/)

yes but ... (there is always a "but" ) :
There are no verbs which do not have an associated substantive? (or with no sense)
For instance, according to your example, how to say "you have to work ... adding lightings to all the rooms and you have to work ... etc." ?
(comment ça même en anglais je suis chiante ? ) _________________
